CIRCULAR LIGHT
Brief
Design a sustainable furniture light piece that takes into account circular design principles, circular economy and carbon footprints.
Story:
This product has been designed with a full circular life span in mind. From waste collection to disassembly and disposal, the goal is to keep the product in a recyclable and reusable loop, instead of a linear life, thereby reducing its carbon footprint. It is modular in design, easy to assemble, disassemble and repair. Made from recycled materials, gathered from existing plastic bottles, caps, metal cans and wood, the product bares a sense of renewal and symbiosis. Due to it’s modular structure and simple DIY assembly method, parts are interchangeable and can be replaced by the consumer rather than replacing the entire unit. It’s simple construction, small size and minimal part count allow it to be neatly and compactly flat-packed,

Scenario.
2021 was a year filled with focus on conference calls, mental health awareness and home comfort. COVID-19 took it’s toll on work/life balance, affecting the public in many ways, to a point where many of us were seek help, assistance an reassurance. Serving a purpose in these 3 key areas, the Circular Light can be used as either a conference call back-light, ambient S.A.D lamp or an ornamental furniture piece.
